let it move you

Hey hey, I'm back! Did you miss me? No? Well fine, no blargging for you! Oh alright, here goes..

As you probably guessed, I've been rather busy now that school and work have started up again. Ever since I got promoted to Customer Service Team Leader™ at work, I've been running on overdrive. Not just because of the demands of the job, but because of the craziness thanks to it being the beginning of the semester. Just the staffing aspect has been draining. In the first week we lost an employee, gained a former employee, then gained another new employee. Things are finally starting to settle to the point where I can finally relax a little at work.

On the academic side of things, I ended up dropping the Japanese Religion and Culture writing class I was taking, as there is just no way I'd be able to read a book and write a paper every week. I hear there is another writing component class I can take that simply requires you to design a small website. No writing involved. How cool is that? That is totally my kind of class. As for my other classes, my Anthropology class (Indians of Mexico and Guatemala) is pretty cool and interesting. I'm retaking Statistics this semester, as I bombed it hardcore last semester. I'm taking it with a different professor this time around, and the weird thing is it's like a totally different class. I feel like I'm in remedial statistics or something. This professor is so much more lax compared to the other evil one I had. She's like the complete opposite. It's rather refreshing to say the least. As for my Government class.. well, government is government. Lame. Not much more I can say about that. It feels nice to be taking just 9 hours of class and working the same amount of hours. I get much more free time, and I don't work on Tuesdays at all.

Speaking of Tuesdays, I joined the Billiards Club at UT. I went to my first meeting this past Tuesday. It was fun but it took a long time. Basically they get everyone's names and randomly assign brackets for a mini 9 Ball tournament. Being that I haven't played pool in years and the fact that I wasn't good to begin with, I got owned pretty badly, but it was all in good fun. I got matched up against the best guy in the club for my first game. Instant loss, woo. My second game I got matched up against another good player, but he made a mistake or two and basically gave me the win. My third game I went against yet another awesome guy. He also made some mistakes which helped me out. I managed to keep up with him and might have beaten him had I not blown an incredibly easy shot on the 9. He was a cool guy though, and overall the experience was fun. Plus I got a free hour of pool for the Union which I need to redeem before this coming Tuesday. I think if I become a paid member I get free hours Monday through Friday. Not to mention a hip T-shirt. We're trying to get some other people from work to join as well. So far there are two of us, maybe 5, hopefully more. Should be fun. Now I just need to find a place that sells awesome cues. Preferably ones with Japanese written/carved on them. :D

In consumer whore news, I ordered a dvd burner last week, and it should be here Tuesday. I'm so excited. I ordered a Sony 510a from newegg.com for $160. Seemed like a good deal. Now I just need to order a spindle of dvdrs so I can start burning stuff, and maybe borrow some movies to copy -err "test out" my burner. So if anyone wants anything, just provide me with the dvdrs or money to cover the cost of them (they are pretty expensive) or a movie to trade and I'll burn you whatever you want in return. Speaking of dvds, I bought the Jurassic Park Trilogy the other day. The first Jurassic Park is one of my fav movies ever. It's a shame the other two movies weren't nearly as good, but I'm glad to finally have them on dvd. Unfortunately only Jurassic Park III has commentary. I was really hoping at least the first one would have it. That's one of the main things I look for in a dvd. Ah well, it's still an awesome movie.

Ok, it's an hour past my bedtime and I have to be at work by 8am, so I really should get some sleep. Stay tuned for a post burner blargging once it arrives.

We watched the first JP so many times in High School. It seemed like at the end of each year, SOME teacher would find an excuse to play that movie.
The best thing about 1+2 was my dad was in it. He was John Hammond in case you've never met my dad. I thought he was quite good.

The mad scratcher returns. Its good that you get to play pool for free. Is 9-ball the only thing they play?

they play 9 ball usually. if they have a ton of people they'll play 7. occasionally they play 8 ball if there aren't many people, but the default game is 9 ball.
